The whole "TTC" journey has made me realize how important family is.
While on the East coast, we will stop and see my grandmother who is ailing. I'm oddly detatched...I know she's going to pass away sooner rather than later and this will most likely be the last time I see her but I'm not sad. Her husband has been dead for a while and she isn't particularly close to any of her children. Her grandchildren are spread out across the States and she is very close to her older sister who lives just a few minutes away.
I'm going to have her record one of those Hallmark books for our baby and I think that the first time I play the book for Baby is when I'll lose it for sure. Grandmom has always been wonderful to me. She was MY grandmom on my father's side and I was her only grandaughter. I used to spend weeks at her place during the summer and she would take me out and get breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts or take me to the working Amish farm house. I relied on her to buy my school clothes and for unconditional love when I didn't get it at home. I'm anxious to go back and see her! She loves italian food but can't get out and move around very much anymore so I'm going to have D make the 40 minute trip (each way) to Carrabba's to pick up some take out. We can eat in the living room and play Life like Grandmom and I did when I was younger.
After Grandmom's, we are heading down the shore for the first time in almost 3 years to help Popop pack up. On Saturday, I"m going to meet up with my sister (we haven't spoken in almost 5 years!) and she's going to go to the boardwalk with us and have dinner at the Rainforest Cafe with Popop, D, Aunti Em and I.
Next on our road trip is to stop in Ohio and meet up with my best friend from school and spend 2 nights with him. I miss him every day and hate that we are so far away from each other. PJ has been one of the constants in my life and he truly is part of my family!
This road trip is chock full of family and friends and I am looking forward to it!
