So instead of going out for an expensive dinner at a fancy restaurant I opted to cook dinner for my family at home. Aunt Jessa, Uncle Josh, and Doodle were coming over at 7:15 so I rushed home to get dinner made, plated and served (by 7:22 thankyouverymuch!).
Dad surprised me by having the table set, fresh flowers on the table and even a mini table set for Doodle who usually has to eat in the kitchen so she doesn't spill on the white carpet. I was VERY surprised and loved it!
Dad helped in the kitchen and we made Chicken Piccata over pasta (my ABSOLUTE favorite meal) in less than 1 1/2 hours!
Aunt Jess and Uncle Josh surprised me with a balloon bouquet and won't give me my gift until the 12th of November...apparently it is a big surprise and I am very excited!! Doodle is the sweetest thing! She told me months ago that she would get me a "little surprise" for my birthday and she didn't disappoint!
Behold!! My panda eraser puzzle from the Doods!
This is the gift Dave gave me:
It's a beautiful heart ring from Pandora. It's a little uncomfortable so we're going to see if we can size up or find something that is more comfy.
Dad gave me a reusable Starbucks tumbler that I've been begging for too! All in all, it was a faboo party and I wouldn't want to spend my birthday any other way!
The night was full of laughter and love and it made me very thankful that I have such a wonderful loving family. We were telling jokes during dinner and Aunt Jessa told this one:
This boy was born without a belly button and every night he would pray "Dear God, pleaaase please please please give me a belly button so I can be like all the other normal boys and girls at school. Amen." Every morning he would pop out of bed and race to see if he God had given him a belly button and every morning his face could crumble to see his smooth tummy. One morning his mom asked what he was doing and he explained.
"Maybe you should pray a little harder and not give up on your dreams. Maybe God will give you a belly button," she told him.
That night he prayed REALLY REALLY hard and asked for his belly button. When he woke up the next morning he felt under his shirt and felt a dimple on his belly. God had given him a belly button!!! He was so excited he jumped out of bed and his ass fell off.
Trust me, we cracked up laughing but it made me really think. We pray and hope sooo hard to have a baby. We are 100% baby focused. I breathe, sleep, eat, and talk adoption. Maybe I should focus less on getting my baby and be satisfied that I have a great family and friends and just take this in stride.
The lesson I take away from that joke is to worry less about the things I lack and be thankful for what I already have.
It's my party and I'll be introspective if I want to.!
