Lutheran Family Services has called to see if we are still interested in their infant adoption program!!! We will get a call next week to schedule our interview again! I'm torn..our adoption fund is running waaaaay low and we planned on buying a house this spring. I don't think we can do both. Obviously the baby comes first but I won't be devistated if we get pushed back to the Spring enrollment. On the other hand, I won't be devistated if we don't buy a house for another year or two.
So... basically, I'm saying that I'm at peace with the whole thing? Yeah. I'm confused too. :)
Our journey through life takes many turns. Some heart breaking, some hilarious, and most we never expect. We have left the adoption world childless but not for trying and are putting children on the back burner to explore the deep recesses of our hearts in a quest to live a life that is as big and crazy as we are. Are you buckled up? Good because it is a bumpy journey, alright!

True that!
I found this on a Hallmark clearance rack. Who are these people who don't need to be reminded to be patient? Who are these perfectly coiffed Hallmark shopper who have everything they want and don't need a little bit of Cinderella's wisdom?! I bet they walk in pointy heels and not slip in Schlotsky's with a full cup of iced tea. I bet they remember to take out meat from the freezer for dinner instead of whining that "Mondays are rough days to cook at home..." I bet they have cute designer bags that hang *just so* on their arms as they swish through Hallmark totally ignoring the AH-dorable inspirational sign.
I bet they aren't me...not that I've EVER done any of the above!! 0:)
No news until February, ma peeps. Then we know if LFS has decided to let us into their super exclusive and EXPENSIVE club of Waiting Parents. Right now we're just WAITING. And very patiently, I might add!!
Updates when they happen!

It's official!!!
D & I sat down last night and filled out the application for Lutheran Family Services and D is dropping it off today!!!! That's right peeps, we have taken one of the first official steps towards adopting! I want to thank all the people who have dedicated their blogs to their adoptions and anyone who has answered a question about open adoption for me. You have ALL helped educate me and it truly showed when I answered the questions on the application. While the application was tough, I believe that it may be the easiest part of this whole process! Thank you for sharing in my excitement with me!!
We also picked the picture that will define us as a couple throughout this process. It will be the picture that gets attached to our application, be the cover of our adoption profile and be my new profile picture.

Not only is it one of our favorite pictures from our photo shoot with Christie Eck last year, we feel that it gives a glimpse into our personalities as well. It says "Hi!! We're fun, and quirky. Our favorite season is fall and we are secure enough and love each other enough to be silly together!" To be honest...the smiles were genuine, we both had our eyes open and it is bound to be different (and therefore stand out) than all of the other pictures.
D & I are trying not to agonize over every little detail and just enjoy our life as it is. We don't always feel empty, like we're missing a piece. D & I have an upcoming Blue October concert, a trip to Nebraska City, and both of our birthdays within the next few weeks. After that, D starts his crazy overtime schedule for the holidays and I won't see much of him (awake and in a good mood!) until a few days after Christmas.

Update!
We are moving this Friday from a 1 bedroom into a 3 bedroom! We are prepping to have Popop K move out here at the end of August and we needed extra space for all the baby stuff we are starting to collect. I did not realize how much STUFF we have!! Boxes of books and diapers and socks and clothes and stuffed animals and books....LOTS of books!!
Thankfully Aunt Jessie and Uncle Josh are going to help us move this week so I don't have to take off of work! Aunt Jessie is still looking for a job and we keep our fingers crossed for her. I know she'll find one at the right time for the right company. (CHIN UP, GIRLIE!!)
In ADOPTION NEWS, we have decided that it makes much more sense for us to wait for the spring time enrollment period at LFS. D works serious overtime during the holidays and we wouldn't be able to do much towards the adoption until January anyway.
One of my friends posted a question on Facebook the other day that made me think how infertility has changed my life. Some days I truly feel like it defines me. I'm not J from Jersey, loud, funny, caring, loving, and crazy; I'm J-I can't have children. Since making the decision to adopt, I'm finding that I can break from the infertility mold and pursue a life that I want...minus Clomid, Progesterone, crazy-wild mood swings, and injectibles.
Since we know that I'm never planning on giving birth, there is no reason I should be 70 lbs from my goal weight. I always said I'd wait until I had all my children done and then lose the weight...since nothing is going to burst out of me we've joined a gym and started training with a Personal Trainer. WHEW!! My legs and arms might fall off but I'll look good!!! :D
Uncle Pj's (my best friend from high school) little brother Nicky is in the hospital with girlfriend Ari and I can honestly say that I'm not the teensiest bit jealous that she's about to give birth to baby Damien. I am excited to see this new member of my family and a little horrified that little Nicky is old enough to be a dad...DAMN! I'm getting old! :/ Best of luck to Ari as she pushes a watermelon through her toothpaste tube!!
